Ben Li

Ben Li is currently working on polarisation detection, mainly designing a novel polarimeter using techniques displayed by biological life.

Several species of marine life and insects can use polarised light for navigation and communication. Polarisation sensitivity is also present in heavy metal nanoparticles that could be incorporated into a polarimeter. Once built, this could detect the polarisation distribution of photons from the visible spectrum to gamma-ray energies from cosmic sources.
