Karl Jakobs

The current chair of the European Committee for Future Accelerators and former spokesperson of the ATLAS experiment at the LHC, Professor Karl Jakobs is an experimental particle physicist with a well-established career using detectors situated at particle colliders. When not present full-time at CERN, he leads the particle physics group at the University of Freiburg.

Within the Centre, he will provide strategic guidance to ATLAS collaborators, providing support to the Centre’s investigations into measuring dark matter production at colliders and the understanding of the particle nature of dark matter.

Having supervised numerous postgraduate students, Professor Jakobs is very well placed to provide advice and support to the research training and mentoring efforts facilitated by the Centre.
