Phillip Urquijo

Professor Phillip Urquijo is a leading experimental particle physicist, with considerable experience in the management of large physics experiments, particularly with the Belle II collaboration in Japan,.

Phillip won the Eureka Prize in the Emerging Leader in Science category for his leadership of the Belle II project in 2015.

He is involved in the development and construction of the SABRE South direct detection experiment, including a muon detector that will operate as part of the background-rejection aspect of that experiment. His knowledge of data-analysis techniques will be utilised on the development and implementation of analysis software for SABRE and other experiments to be located at SUPL.

Student supervision and outreach activities within secondary schools will also be important aspects of his role within the Centre.
