Raymond Volkas

Professor Volkas is an internationally esteemed theoretical particle physicist, with particular expertise in model building- the construction of theories that extend the Standard Model of particle physics.

His current interests centre on the construction of theories for neutrino mass generation and their associated flavour physics effects, the particle nature of dark matter, and baryogenesis.

Working within the Theory program, he will draw on his linkages with researchers in Europe and the USA, especially in the study of asymmetric dark matter, to contribute to the development of new dark matter models.

Furthermore, this work will interface with the Centre’s experimental program in Direct Detection of WISP and WIMP dark matter candidates, such that theory and observation will work closely together, both guiding and responding to developments in each area.
