Dark matter at the Stawell Easter Extravaganza

Physicists from the Dark Matter Centre travelled to Stawell on Easter Saturday to attend the Stawell Easter Extravaganza.

The event offered the opportunity for the Stawell community and visitors to the region during the holiday period and Stawell Gift to talk about dark matter and the underground lab lying 1km below the town.

Dark matter physicists Amrita Banerjee and Ethan Han of Swinburne University of Technology and Giovani Dalla Valle Garcia of the University of Melbourne attended the event.

It was the third time the Dark Matter Centre has participated in the extravaganza, and part of a range of outreach activities held in the region.

The Centre also holds regular free community talks to update the Southern Grampians Shire on the SABRE South experiment and the Stawell Underground Physics Laboratory, and engages closely with local schools to provide physics education and inspire the scientists of the future.
