Dark Matter in the Pub is a FREE entertaining science outreach event that aims to bring together scientists and the wider community to explore the fascinating and mysterious topic of dark matter. Through a series of short, interactive and engaging presentations, the event aims to share the exciting research being carried out in this area in Australia and overseas.

From the brief history of dark matter and the Universe to the latest LZ results, we’ll explore the mysteries, puzzles, and unexpected twists in the hunt for dark matter. Expect cosmic horror stories for Halloween, a recipe how to build an axion detector, and to learn how to see the unseen, as we try to make sense of the Universe’s greatest mystery.

As part of the event, there will be a pub quiz to engage everyone with science, with small dark matter-themed prizes. The event will take place in the relaxed atmosphere of a pub, providing an opportunity for discussion and interaction with scientists after the presentations. A number of interactive demonstrations, including a tool to play with rotational speed of galaxies, will also give the audience the opportunity to engage directly with science.

We're looking forward to seeing you there!
