With eighteen years of experience in the fields of solar neutrinos and low-counting detectors, Dr. Aldo Ianni has considerable experience with underground laboratories and the experiments located therein.

With earlier senior positions at the Gran Sasso National Laboratory in Italy, he currently is the Director of the Laboratorio Subterráneo de Canfranc, located under the Pyrenees.

He has worked on the Borexino solar neutrino experiment, and the DarkSide-50 and WArP dark-matter direct-detection experiments, where he developed deep expertise in all areas related to the direct detection of dark matter, including precision cleaning and low-radioactivity environments, photomultiplier detectors and liquid scintillators development, and spectroscopy.

As a member of the SABRE collaboration, Ianni’s involvement within the Centre will be key for collaborations between SABRE South at SUPL and SABRE North at INFN Gran Sasso National Laboratory.
