Martin Sevior
Martin Sevior is a Professor in the School of Physics at the University of Melbourne. His research is in the field of Experimental Particle Physics.
Martin performs experiments with the world's highest intensity particle accelerator (Belle II at the SuperKEKB) in Japan. The Belle II experiment investigates the cause of the Universal Matter-Antimatter asymmetry. This experiment probes conditions that last existed less than 1 billionth of a second after the Big Bang.
Martin investigates matter-antimatter asymmetries in the interactions of sub-atomic particles and leads the analysis group in the Belle experiment where many such measurements are made. His goal is to discover fundamental new physics not encompassed by the Standard Model of particle physics. His particularly interested in the development advanced data analysis algorithms, (Deep Learning), to make the best measurements possible with the Belle and Belle II data sets.
