Stephen Tims

Associate Professor Stephen Tims has been the driving force behind the ANU AMS actinide measurement program for over 10 years.

He has overseen the development of numerous new actinide isotopes for AMS analysis (including 210Pb, which is of direct relevance to the assessment of suitable materials for a dark matter detector) and specific detector systems with which to measure them (which will also be relevant for dark matter detector development).

Stephen has established significant international collaborations with Nanjing University, China and Victoria University, New Zealand, using actinides to assess erosion and sedimentation rates. He has been a Chief Investigator on 4 Australian Research Council, Discovery Project grants.
