Professor Anthony Thomas holds the Elder Chair of Physics at the University of Adelaide. He has extensive experience in both nuclear and particle theory, with significant publications related to dark matter.

He has held staff positions in theory at TRIUMF (Vancouver) and CERN (Geneva) as well as serving as Chief Scientist and Associate Director for Theoretical and Computational Physics at the Thomas Jefferson National Accelerator Facility. From 2009 to 2015 he held an Australian Laureate Fellowship.

Within the Centre, he will contribute crucially to the modelling of the nuclear cross-section for proposed theoretical models, to the interpretation of any observed signals and to the effects of dark matter in neutron stars and will provide leadership to the Centre’s mentoring program.
